Where We Live
The original songs that reflect our unique location and lifestyle include: Heartbeat, Every Green Thing, Love For All Seasons, Another Fine Day, and Five Acres of Ground. Busy Makin' Money is a songwriting collaboration and a product of our marriage. Burl is the sole author of his 1996 release, Tidal Lore.
Lynn Canal is located near the northern most isthmus of Southeast Alaska's Inside Passage, where stunning mountains plunge into a deep fjord. Marine life includes humpback whales and orcas, Steller's sea lions, otters, and the five species of pacific salmon. The mountains, shoreline and coastal valleys are home to moose, black and brown bear, mountain goats, lynx, mink, marten, wolves and coyotes.
Our remote home is located 8 miles south of Haines, Alaska, where Alaska Native people have thrived for thousands of years and traditional and customary use of fish and wildlife remain important. While Burl and Nancy both have day-jobs, fishing, gardening and gathering wild edibles are an important part of their lives. Their home, built on the shore of Lynn Canal, is hand-made from salvaged beach logs Burl chainsaw milled into beams and lumber. While Burl milled, Nancy framed the walls.
